Perched with quiet authority on his favorite post, this brown pelican surveys his kingdom, unhurried, unbothered, and entirely at home while a blue crab tries to seem threatening.

The world behind them shimmers in a thousand shades of blue, the kind that exists only at the edge of the sea, where sky melts into water, and the water forgets where it ends.

This is a painting about stillness and being present in the moment in the midst of that curious kind of peace that settles over the water when nature pauses and holds its breath.
