There is something that happens in the space between chaos and clarity, a moment where form begins to emerge from the formless, where meaning rises quietly through layers of color and light. That is where my work lives.
I am a painter working in Oil and Mixed Media, and at the heart of everything I create is a single, abiding theme: light. Not light as a visual element, but light as a feeling, the reverence of being illuminated, of turning toward something greater than yourself and allowing it to pour through you. In my paintings, I explore what it means to be lit from within, and what it looks like when that inner light finds its way to the surface.
My process begins in abstraction. I build up layers - paint, texture, glaze - allowing the work to breathe and move on its own terms. Then, slowly, I begin to draw out a sense of realish from within that abstraction. Beneath every recognizable form in my work, the earlier layers are still there, still peeking through, still speaking. I want the viewer to feel that something more lives within the painting, that it emerged from what came before and now rests quietly beneath the surface, offering its own kind of peace.
I have been a visual person my whole life, drawn to create, and to the deep need to express what I see, feel, and think through image and form. For much of my life, I set that calling aside - art was not considered a practical path, at the time. But now, I am no longer willing to compromise who I am or who I was created to be. Now, I have committed fully to my practice, and in doing so, I have come home to myself.
These paintings are an act of faith - in beauty, light, and in the belief that we are each created with something worth expressing. I invite you to step into that light with me.
I will also be sharing ongoing blog posts here - a behind-the-scenes look at my work as it unfolds. From the first layers of abstraction to the final glaze, you will be invited into the process as each piece finds its way to completion. I hope it deepens your connection to the work and to the story within it.
